We asked Daniane Martins to tell in 4 photos and a story, what connects her day. From breakfast to computer shut-down. Showing in practice what it is like to work in our flexible and distributed model, but always close. Routine, interactions, work-life balance. The result is an inspiring testimony from the other side of the globe. From the beautiful city of Krakow, Poland, Daniane continues to do what she loves most, including being a volunteer in the Invillia Care School project, running even with negative temperatures and innovating with her team no matter the time zone.
Check it out_
Hello 🙂
Hello, my name is Daniane, but you can call me Dani. I was born in Bebedouro (heart city <3), in the interior of São Paulo. The love for traveling and seeing new places brought me to Krakow, Poland and I have lived here since last year. I have been with Invillia since 2018 and the remote work model helped in my change of continent. Here is BR at PL. Come with me and I will tell you what a day is like in my connected life.
Endorphin in the first winter
While it is dawn in Brazil, I already woke up here in Poland and start my day with my running training. I’ve been running since 2012, but going to training never took as much courage as this first winter in Poland. Preparing the mind and all the materials to go and train in freezing temperatures is not easy. In Brazil, my preparation was to put on my tennis shoes and #go! But here in Poland, it is an item that never ends: sneakers to keep from slipping on the snow, a hat, gloves, windbreaker, etc. etc. Then you ask me “Dani, you love running a lot, right?” and I tell you, running is good, but the feeling of finishing running is even better. Endorphin comes!
Tourist in my city
My running out is a great excuse to practice a new hobby, photography. The city of Kraków is beautiful, with lots of green areas, buildings from the 13th century, historic sites from medieval times to the days of World War II. So, even a beginner in photography gets good clicks around here. Do you remember that I said I love to travel? Living here is like being a tourist in the city I live in, always discovering a new angle ?
The Invillia Care School social project
At the end of my morning, close to lunch, it is the time that Brazil begins to wake up and it is at that time that I come to my laptop to deal with another subject: Care School. I am an English student and in the Invillia Care School social project, I help underprivileged teenagers on their journey to learn a new language. The project started in 2019 and classes took place in Invillia’s nostalgic decompression room. Today, living in a different time zone, I contribute to Care School by preparing the teaching material for classes.
The Philadelphia team
In the meantime, my teammates start connecting to Invillia’s Instation work environment and I start my journey as an Agile Development Leader on the Philadelphia team. Being 5 hours ahead of Brazil time did not hinder the routine of our team. However, it is always funny that when my team is going to have lunch it is time for my afternoon coffee.
The Korean routine
When my workday is over, it is already late here in Poland and I need strategies to get my head off work, slow down and get to sleep. What do I do? A skincare routine with all the steps of a good Korean routine. Self-care is a way of turning your attention to yourself. And the last activity of the day is writing in my diary: what was good, what didn’t work and one or two goals for the next day.
Phew, how much! That was just a summary, but it fits a lot in one day. I didn’t even mention all the meals, something very important to me 🙂 Throughout my day, I hope I have shown a way to balance work hours and hobbies, activities you love, living one day at a time, even in a different time zone.
